Uma trajetória ligada à fotografia e identidade regional
Francisco Valdean, professor, artista, nordestino, fotógrafo e mareense de coração, explica que sua caminhada foi conectada à arte ainda muito cedo. Em sua dissertação de mestrado, o cearense identificou três principais recortes feitos pelos grandes veículos da mídia tradicional quando pautam a favela: Imagens da Violência, Imagens das Remoções e Imagens das Palafitas. “A minha trajetória na fotografia, começa em 2004, quando fiz o curso Imagens do Povo, no Observatório de Favelas. Em 2004, também estava no segundo ano do ensino médio, estudava na Escola Bahia. Ao mesmo tempo em que estava ali muito deslumbrado com a fotografia, também estava pela sociologia. Gostava muito das discussões em sala de aula. Aí terminei o ensino médio e o curso e comecei um pré-vestibular pensando no curso superior. Aí tentei ciências sociais. Fui aprovado em 2008, em ciências sociais, na PUC Rio e na UERJ. Optei pela UERJ. Meu TCC na graduação foi sobre as Imagens da Maré e aí eu fiz mestrado também em ciências sociais e desenvolvi uma dissertação pensando a imagem da Maré, pensando suas imagens. As imagens das remoções, imagens das palafitas, imagens das violências e imagens do povo. São esses quatro blocos de imagem que eu estudo na dissertação”, conta o professor.
